Review refunds, credits and bank-detail changes

Apply separate evidence and maker-checker controls to sensitive financial changes.

Before you begin

1. Identify the actual operation

Distinguish a patient refund, credit-note assessment, financial adjustment and bank-detail change. They carry different evidence and cannot be replaced by a generic balance edit.

2. Prepare the refund evidence

Record amount, currency, recipient, payment reference and patient/claim relationship. The refund path requires an approver different from the author and records approval time.

3. Review credit-note applicability

Inspect the configured credit-note case and gate verdicts. The credit action returns the case taxonomy and evidence rather than inventing an accounting answer from a payer rejection.

4. Independently verify bank changes

Record a distinct authorized approver plus independent verification of bank details. Keep the immutable review record for the change.

No silent tax conclusion

An insurer rejection alone does not establish the legal credit-note or tax treatment. Use the evidence-backed configuration and finance/tax owner for unresolved cases.

Refund record versus charge settlement

The refund response identifies its receipt kind, recipient, reference, approver and whether it settles a charge. Review these facts rather than assuming every refund changes a clinical charge.

Troubleshooting

Approval is refused

Check whether author and approver are the same or independent verification is missing. Assign an appropriately authorized second person and retain the supporting evidence.
