Facility administration
Choose the correct facility setup classification
Use the five canonical version-2 facility types and distinguish them from historical codes and advertised service features.

Before you begin
- Know the actual care setting and the approved facility identity.
- Use the facility setup version and labels supplied by your deployment.
1. Read the canonical type list
The current setup catalogue defines Hospital, Clinic, Polyclinic, Laboratory and Other. The facility form reads these bilingual labels from the shared version-2 catalogue. Choose the facility’s real classification; the numeric native code is an internal contract value.
2. Distinguish a type from a feature
The separate Features selector describes capabilities such as Emergency Services, Inpatient Services, Outpatient Services, Pharmacy and Intensive Care Units. A selected feature is not proof that the corresponding clinical service, staff role, device or specialist workflow has been configured.
3. Check the setup contract during migration
The backend supports setup contract versions 1 and 2. Version 1 uses hospital=2, clinic=3, laboratory=10 and other=3. Version 2 uses hospital=11, clinic=12, polyclinic=13, laboratory=14 and other=3. Version 1 does not define polyclinic. Do not translate bare numeric codes without the contract version.
4. Configure the actual workflows
After creating the facility, configure its departments, locations, users, service catalogue, observation definitions and active forms. Patient, encounter and service workflows depend on those records and deployment configuration.
Canonical catalogue
| Setup type | English | Arabic | Native code |
|---|---|---|---|
| hospital | Hospital | مستشفى | 11 |
| clinic | Clinic | عيادة | 12 |
| polyclinic | Polyclinic | مجمع طبي | 13 |
| laboratory | Laboratory | مختبر | 14 |
| other | Other | أخرى | 3 |
What the classification does not establish
The setup source explicitly says the internal codes do not assert ownership. The catalogue does not provide a specialist SOP, accreditation status, regulatory approval or a guarantee that every workflow is enabled.
Specialist services
Dental, dialysis, surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, home-care and other specialty workflows require service-specific validation. They are not additional canonical setup types in this catalogue.
General edit forms also retain legacy types
The five current self-service setup classifications are Hospital, Clinic, Polyclinic, Laboratory and Other. The general Edit Facility form additionally lists legacy classifications such as Primary Health Centres, Private Labs and TeleMedicine. Their presence in that older edit list does not establish a separately validated specialist package or expand the current self-service setup contract.
Troubleshooting
A migration labels an old Clinic code as Other
Check the setup contract version. Native code 3 is overloaded in the historical mapping; version 2 distinguishes Clinic as 12 and Other as 3.
The desired specialty is not a facility type
Use the approved canonical classification, then configure and validate the specialty’s departments, services and forms. Do not invent a setup code.
